Frequently Asked Questions

What is GHG verification?
GHG verification is an independent, systematic process to evaluate an organization's greenhouse gas emissions statement against established criteria (typically ISO 14064). A qualified verification body assesses the data, methodology, and controls to issue a verification opinion — providing stakeholders with confidence in the reported emissions.
Is GHG verification mandatory in Qatar?
GHG verification is not yet universally mandatory in Qatar but is increasingly expected for organizations reporting under NDC commitments, seeking carbon credits via the Global Carbon Council, or facing international requirements such as the EU CBAM or SBTi. Many organizations pursue verification voluntarily for credibility and stakeholder confidence.
What standards does GSustain verify against?
We verify against ISO 14064-1 (organizational inventories), ISO 14064-2 (project-level reductions), ISO 14067 (product carbon footprints), and the Global Carbon Council programme rules. Our verification methodology is aligned with ISO 14064-3:2019.
How long does GHG verification take?
A typical verification engagement takes 4-6 weeks from engagement agreement to statement issuance, depending on organizational complexity, data readiness, and scope. We offer expedited timelines where data maturity allows.
What is the difference between verification and validation?
Verification assesses historical GHG emissions data (what has already happened). Validation assesses forward-looking project plans and emission reduction claims (what is projected to happen). GSustain provides both services.
What is the Global Carbon Council?
The Global Carbon Council (GCC) is a voluntary carbon credit programme operated by the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD). GCC-issued credits are CORSIA-eligible and represent one of the few MENA-originated carbon credit mechanisms.
Can GSustain verify Scope 3 emissions?
Yes. We verify Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Scope 3 verification typically requires more extensive evidence gathering and supply chain data assessment, which we scope during the planning phase.
